- Got Flamingos?
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is starting a new tradition! Beginning on February 7, St. Stephen’s will offer a Wednesday evening prayer built upon the Celtic Christian tradition. This quiet and meditative prayer service begins at 7pm and lasts for about half-an-hour. This is an opportunity to find an oasis in the midst of busy lives where you can sit and be still with God. This service is open to the public, all are welcome.
The emphasis for any Celtic service is silence, meditation, the Trinity, and creation/nature themes. Celtic Spirituality draws its inspiration from the earliest appearance of Christianity and an offering which was also inspired by the wisdom of pre-Christian Ireland. In the prayers of the early church of these islands, in their passion and their practice of the faith, there is a clarity, simplicity and wisdom that speak to many of today’s concerns. The prayers f the Celtic Saints are filled with experiences of God’s presence in creation, simplicity of living in harmony with creation, and awareness of the sacredness of all things.
