I would like to take this time to thank all of you who participated in this year’s Relay for Life. We kicked off the campaign with “Paint the Church Purple” where we celebrated with ice cream cones, nail painting and a drawing of some very special items. We raised $404 that Sunday morning. Three of our parishioners won the raffle items, the Knox’s won the quilt, Evelyn the necklace and Liz G. the “Frozen” blankets. Two Wrasslin’ Cats donated a portion of their sandwich sales for five consecutive Saturdays which brought in $333.00. We can be very proud that on Relay Saturday, Team St. Stephen’s won the silver award for raising over $1,000 at that time. To date, our total is $2,050.50.
There are so many things that the American Cancer Society is responsible for, both nationally and on a local level. Just recently, the ACS supported research that came up with a drug that is known to cure certain pediatric and gastrointestinal cancers. So your money goes a long way towards helping those who suffer from this terrible disease.
As always, St. Stephen’s rises to the occasion. There are too many people to thank personally, but to Jeff Hayn and John Van Steenburgh, thank you for setting up our tent. Thank you, Lynda Hickey (and girls) for decorating it. Thank you to all who came and supported us on Saturday and throughout this whole campaign. All members of the DiFiglia family are extremely grateful!
