Music

Our music program, which includes Angel, Youth and Senior choirs, is led by Wendy Hummel.

Our worship is enhanced by an M.P. Moller pipe organ, originally built in 1936.

Angel Choir:  The St. Stephen’s Angel Choir encompasses children ages 2 through 4th grade.  We rehearse every Sunday morning, beginning at 9:30am.  This is an energetic group that features singing with sign language or dance movement.  Each Angel receives a CD with the current selections that we’ll be singing, giving them the option to become familiar with the music at home or in the car.

Youth Choir:  The St. Stephen’s Youth Choir involves youth from grade 5 through grade 12.  This group rehearses every Sunday after the 10:00am service, and focuses on contemporary Christian music.  Many of the older Youth Choir also present special solo or duet pieces throughout the year.

Senior ChoirThe Senior Choir rehearses Sunday mornings from 8:00 to 9:30 am.  We sing a wide variety of music from many genres, including spirituals, classical works, hymn arrangements and contemporary anthems.  The Senior Choir recently provided special music for the “Massing of the Colors” held at St. Stephen’s.

New Musical Group?  We’re interested in forming a new musical group that provides contemporary music using percussion, guitars, other various instruments and vocals.  This group would feature contemporary Christian music from groups like Casting Crowns, Third Day, Avalon and Chris Tomlin.

If you’re interested in joining any of our choirs or musical groups, please let Wendy know (email music@ststeves.org) or come to a rehearsal and join the fun.
